Here's my video on extending my short term social visit pass in Malaysia during Covid-19 Pandemic. Please note that this is not advice. These are simple the steps that I took and you have to make decisions based on your own situation.

Step 1: Download the PowerQ app available on Google Play and Apple app stores.
http://powerq.my
Step 2: Purchase a local sim card with Malaysian number and register it on the app
Step 3: Check every for available slots. Check at midnight and around 3-4pm. (I found slots came available around this time if people cancelled)
Step 4: Be patient, calm and take a day at a time. It’s best to have a clear head.

While you are waiting it’s time to get prepared

Step 5: Download the immigration form IMM55 (website is very slow, try early hours)
https://www.imi.gov.my/images/pdf/Imm55.PDF (if the immigration website is unavailable I have included it on my website temporarily https://hivevine.com/im55-form/)
Step 6: Print copy of the front part of your passport with your photo
Step 7: Print the page with the visa stamp when you arrived in Malaysia
Step 8: Print out any outward bound flight tickets and/or cancelled flight tickets/information
Step 9: Print out a copy of your latest bank statement (this wasn’t needed but do it just in case)

When you get an appointment here are the steps you should take

Step 1: Make sure you have a fully charged phone because you’ll need to scan the barcode you get when you’ve booked an appointment.

Step 2: Get to the Immigration building at least 30 minutes before the meeting. If you go too early and you’ll have to walk around in the heat and humidity. If you get there at the last minute you’ll be at the back of the queue and the process will take a lot longer.

Step 3: Social distancing. There are markers on the floor. If anyone encroaches into your space, politely tell them to stand back.

Step 4: When you enter the building your temperature will be taken and then you’ll queue to see the first immigration officer. Here you will be given additional paperwork to complete. They will ask you why you want to extend and how long for.

Step 5: Once you’ve completed the forms you’ll go to the 3rd floor and then see another immigration office who will take your temperature again and ask you to log your details into a book with your mobile number for contact tracing.

Step 6: Scan your phone on the powerQ machine and you’ll be given a number on a ticket

Step 7: Sit down, and the seats are set for social distancing. Wait for your number to come up. You’ll go up to the immigration officer and hand in all the paperwork.

Step 8: You’ll sit down in another area and wait for your number to be called again. It’s here where you will pay for your visa, which is RM100 for two months. This is where it gets stressful. They ONLY take Malaysian debit and credit cards. I understand this is due to scams that have occurred in the past. I repeat no international cards at all. You MUST take money with you but they will not accept that. What you will have to do is ask a Malaysian if they will kindly use their card and you give them the case. The cashier was great, and helped me with this, but I saw some tourists struggling with other cashiers. Be Prepared for this.

Thanks to the kind Malaysian who helped me out. I was stressed.

Step 9: Sit down again and wait for your passport to be returned.

In total it took me 1 hr 45 minutes which I was impressed with.

Was expecting it to take much longer but they only allow 150 meetings a day, so, not as many people as normal. I’d heard it can take 4-5 hours usually.
