A young, female Orb Spider feeding on a Calliphoridae (blow fly). Araneus is a genus of common orb-weaving spiders. This is most likely a European garden spider (Araneus diadematus), in Austria we call these "Kreuzspinne" (Cross spider). My fav moment 03:34Attack at 1:40
Today was a great day to make some spider footage, make sure to watch it with max quality settings! More to come (with the giant house spider)

Also none of the music in this video is mine, I do not own it.
I've made my own but didn't used it here! This is ad-free music from the youtube audiolibary.
Also in the video: Feeding the guineapigs some grass :)
Farmlife is love!
I used to feed the spiders around the farm as a kid, still love watching them do spider-things.
Sry for the shakyness - I tried to stabilize..
The web is moving because of the wind blowing through that cabin, I wasn't touching it :)
footage recorded with my moms phone - thank you!
Enjoy the video !
Starring:
Haku the dog: as annoying sidekick
The guineapigs: as Boris & Oliver
The blow fly: as sacrifice to the spider-gods
The spider: as object of study & new friend
Enjoy and feel free to comment, share some love for our orb webbing insect friends (because we all hate mosquitoes).
Infos I gathered:
To avoid running into any spiderweb just take a stick and move it in circles in the direction you are walking, you'll catch all webs with the stick, the spiders fall down and you are free to pass without fear :) She'll make a new one, don't bother.
Be careful, this species is more aggressive than others, some do bite(esp big ones) but these spiders mean no harm to humans.
They prefer to live outdoors, if you find them inside your home, just take them somewhere you may need them (in front of a window, next to watersources,...) or just let them go at some vegetation.
They can grow quite big, esp at dry and sunny places.
Be aware when you find a spider-baby-balls - these will explode when touched :) The babies hold onto each other until a strong blow (or a threat) comes and takes them away - in that moment all of them shoot out an invisible, sticky silk string. That's how these kind of spiders spread when they are small but it can happen that you get caught in one of those invisible webs. First rule: Don't panic! It's not following you, you are pulling it after you, just stay calm, grab the web where you suggest it (you really won't be able to spot anything) the spider should hang on the other end, place it somewhere else, it will release more web when you move too quickly - it´s a defensive reaction - stay calm. They are not mean or bad or anything, just remember: Actio = Reactio.
Anything else? Just ask if you wanna know something, I'll read the comments.
Have a nice day!
