California Trapdoor Spider Eating a mealworm beetle.

California Trapdoor Spider (Bothriocyrtum californicum) popping out of its burrow to grab an adult Tenebrio molitor (Mealworm/Darkling beetle). Almost all of the action occurs at the end of the video. I suspect the spider is leery of coming out during the day, as spider wasps are active during the heat of the day. This burrow was in Tecolote Canyon Open Space Park in San Diego, California.
