Giant Wolf Spider Murders Prey

Hogna carolinensis is the largest wolf spider species in the US. This male from Arizona is over 4" in legspan. Notice how he stares into his victim's eyes as it dies. Wolf spiders have huge eyes and hunt by sight, grabbing prey with lightning speed. The glow of their eyes can be seen shining on roadtops from quite a distance at night.
