Funnel-Web Spider and Maternal Care

The brood of Coelotes terrestris and its development: aspects of spiderling's and their mother's behaviours; a study in a period of about 20 days. The mother died finally and her cadaver was sucked by her offspring.
The female was collected in the South-West of Germany (Neunkirchen-Saar)
Das Heranwachsen der Brut von Coelotes terrestris (einer trichternetz-bauende Finsterspinne). Verhaltensaspekte der Jungtiere und ihrer Mutter sind dokumentiert, und zwar in einem Zeitraum von etwa 20 Tagen. Am Ende starb die Mutter und wurde von den Jungtieren ausgesaugt. Das Weibchen wurde in Neunkirchen-Saar gefangen.
