Holding A Giant Wolf Spider

Handle with care, Giant wolf spiders are extremely fast, and quite fragile. If you are not careful you will snap off a leg. Also, if they feel threatened they can bite, which is painful but not medically significant. I try to be gentle and make no sudden movements. Also expect them to jump so don't hold them very high above a hard surface or the fall can injure them (esp. the fat ones). This species is Hogna carolinensis from Arizona, it is the largest species in the US and this is a male. The females get bigger.
