2/3. Deadly Sydney Funnel Web Spider Sex ( Atrax Robustus ) Rare Mating/Breeding Attempt 2. In HD

Dislike 0 Published on 3 Mar 2019

Second attempt at breeding this pair of Australian Sydney Funnel Web Spiders. See my other videos for the first attempt.
The female is the one on the left & the male is the one on the right.
Mating is a very dangerous & risky time for the males because the females can strike down onto him & can kill him during the process. This is why the males have the mating spur on the third segment of the second legs. He uses these with his legs to hold her legs/fangs up during mating/pairing so she cannot strike him. If she does strike down in him, he can back out quickly, saving his life.

Check out part 1 & 3 in my other videos.
