Feeding Your Snake When And What Size Feeder Do l Offer Prt 8

On Gotta Love Carpet Pythons, this may seem simple enough to do but there is always many questions about this, like when do l up the size of the feeder, how often should l feed my snake, can l offer more then one feeder per feed. For me l always tell people if the feeder is the size of the girth of your snake you cant go wrong but sometimes it doesnt go as smoothly as that.
Example for me Jack does not like big rats and only want a smaller one, so he needs to have two per feed. Of course Lily only eats mice so she needs many of these to fill her belly.
Pinkies rats are what alot of snakes start on but remember not alot of nutrition in them and l found my little ones needed to two until they went up to the next size.
l can only say you know your snakes and if you observe them well enough you will get to know what they want, when to feed them, for me nothing runs on the standard here in my home and schedule of weekly or fortnightly feeding never has been how it is for me. They are hungry when they are hungry and not because it has been 7, 14, days it could be anytime inbetween or even longer.
Weather also impacts feeding as well as breeding season and many will stop feeding, you will get to see the pattern and know not to stress about it. Feeding should be easy but l know for many it just isnt and we all have had issues at one time or another.
Unless your snake is ill they will eat when they are ready. You may need to offer something different at some point, like chicks, quail and mice but that is a whole other story as well.
Carpet pythons are my life but little Apani my spotted python is one cute little girl and helps me with this video today.
