Feeding a snake medication (Diablo)

Dislike 0 Published on 31 Mar 2011

My snow boa Diablo was recently diagnosed with a very mild respiratory infection, so I thought I'd post a video showing how his antibiotics are administered orally via a syringe.

This is my first time making a video with me speaking in it, so I hope you will forgive me if I made too many slip-ups or sounded too nervous!
In all my flustering I had also forgotten to mention several points... have posted several annotations in, but anyways here they are too:

Do NOT attempt to do this unless you are completely sure how to do it, or have had your vet teach you how to do this correctly and safely. Make sure that the meds are pumped into the snake's THROAT as well, and not into the windpipe.

I have provided the names of the medications and dosages for informational purposes only. Please do NOT try to self-prescribe or self-medicate any drugs to a snake without prior consultation with a qualified herp vet.

And of course... you would want to make sure your hands and the syringe are clean.

Make sure to check the mouth to make sure all the meds are swallowed and none have drooled out the side. Its annoying when they do that!! But if you've deposited it far enough down the throat they shouldn't be able to do that...

Sorry if the vid was too shaky and too rushed as well towards the end n the camera was going in and out of focus... I really wanted to be quick and get the feeding over with before he gets too fiesty!
** Thanks to my little bro who helped me take over the recording while I handled and fed the snake!
