Feeding our new corn snake for the first time

This is our new corn snake Shredder, bought on the 22nd December as a Christmas present for our son, this was the 27th December and first time we had fed our corn snakes, we were all looking forward to this as being new to snakes we have never watched a snake eat. We removed our snake from its setting in order to prevent them associated food with people putting their hands in and hoping this is right, feel free to leave any comments on caring for our snakes as it is all new to us and we appreciate any advice. Both our snakes seemed happy and content after their meal so we hope we did everything correct
