Getting Your First Corn Snake!

Where to get your snake?
- Recommended you find a breeder they know everything about their hatchlings and you will get a record sheet.
- You will get told correct information, Pet shops sometimes make mistakes.

Before you get your snake!
- DO YOUR RESEARCH!
- Set up everything a few days before so you can make sure everything is working and its ready for your new pet.
- Make sure you can afford your pet and will be able to provide for it the rest of its life!

When you get your snake!
- LEAVE IT FOR 7 DAYS TO SETTLE IN!
- DO NOT feed for these 7 days but do daily water changes.

The set up!
-its very important it is set up correct! if not it can cause damage to both you and your snake... heat mats/lamps with no thermostat are dangerous!
- THERMOSTATS ATE A MUST HAVE!

Equipment needed!
- Large Flat Faunarium
- Heat Mat
- THERMOSTAT!
- Bedding
- Hides
- Water Dish
- Spare Empty Box For Feeding
- Feeding Tongs
- Food The Correct Size
- Reptile Safe Disinfectant

Safe Bedding:
- Aspen
- Beech Chips
- Lignocel (This is what i use)
- Orchid Bark
- Paper Towel
- Blank Newspaper

Humidity!
- No specific humidity needed just don't let it get too high!

Feeding!
- Feed in separate container
- Food items no larger than 1.5x the fattest part of the snakes body!
- Frozen food, NO live!
-DO NOT handle for at least 48 hours after feeding!

Common Problems!
- Retained Shed
- R.I (Respiratory Infection)
- Snake Mites
- Regurgitation

Temperatures And Lighting:
- Heat mats have to cover 1/3 to 1/2 the floor space.
- heat lamps MUST be guarded red ones are also heat emitting so put a guard on it!
- HEATING MUST BE STATTED
- 28-30 Degrees Calculus!
- LED lights are optional
- Natural Lighting is fine!
