First round of breeding Baby ball pythons

Juvenile Ball/Royal python (Python regius) hatching.

All 4 snakes that I incubated were overdue so I assisted with surgical removal of the shell with avoidance of membrane puncture. This is a common procedure amongst breeders because sometimes the snake is unable to pierce the shell and can result in suffocation.

However, without getting technical it is considered poor practice to breed with these snake because it can introduce a genetic weakness.

What a great experience it was to hatch these little guys, I almost lost them during the winter when power went out for a day and got really cold. I babied them with a gas heater and kept the temperature constant.

Hope you like the videos, they are not too educational but fun to see the baby snakes hatching and in action!
