Mating behaviour: Corn snakes

We have a large collection of breeding corn snakes which we have been working with for many years now. Our collection has advanced over the years to include some of the rarer morphs such as scaleless and palmetto.

Corns are a very interesting species and their mating habits are fascinating to watch. Males stroke and place pressure on the female whilst on top of them. In the wild, many males would fight over a female during mating season, once mated the pair will go their seperate ways and the female will find a secure place to lay her eggs. Babies are independent from hatching.
