RIP Oreo - Tribute to an Amazing Rat

Today I must share more bad news with you in that my sweet girl Oreo passed away this past Saturday, only 2 days after her sister Biscuit. Both girls were just 1.5 years old and neither deserved to pass so young. I have decided to get Oreo's body necropsied as her death was just too strange - Biscuit I can at least understand somewhat as she had been sick before, but Oreo was super healthy and doing tricks and having fun the night before, fine the next morning, then passed away seemingly mid-groom in the afternoon (I found her after returning home from an all-day event - she was curled on her side with one hand frozen in mid-grooming position). This necropsy will hopefully tell me what's going on and if I need to take extra precautions for my remaining rats - no one has shown any signs of illness so far, but then again neither did Oreo.
With that being said sweet Oreo I will miss you so much. Each morning I look for your sweet and curious face at the cage door, and each day I feel filled with heartache when you aren't there. You and Bean were my morning greeting team and the day just isn't the same without that morning greeting.
Oreo was such a perfect rat - not only was she super human oriented and cuddly, but she was also insanely smart. As a tiny 4 week old rat she had the attention span of many adult rats and she picked up tricks like no other. Oreo reminded me so much of my past girl Shadow whose inspired this entire channel - like Shadow Oreo was sweet and cuddly and so easy to train, almost as if she was another person trying to figure out exactly what I wanted. She was the sweetest and more attentive rat, and even among her ratty friends she was the mediator who just wanted everyone else to get along. I know I sound like a broken record when I say this but I'm going to miss you so much sweet girl - its been less then a week since you passed and yet it feels like eternity since I saw your curious little snoot. Rest peacefully sweet girl, I'm going to miss you ðŸ˜ðŸ’”
