Lupe and her babies :)

So yesterday (family day, what a coincidence) our rat Lupe had six babies. They are so cute! They are probably about 40 hours old here. Lupe wants the treat I gave her but they just want to keep nursing! James loves seeing them drinking, he understands what they are doing because I am still breast feeding joe and he frequently asks to see animals "drinking boobie milk" on youtube, so this experience in real life is a pretty amazing one for him. Anyways, I'll tell you all about it...the little rat pups entrance into the world was not so great for them. Lupe accidentally dropped them out of her cage and when we found them they were all over the floor. A few seemed a bit injured so we are happy to see them all thriving. Because of this, we have moved her to a Tupperware until they can no longer fit through the bars. But we have a nice big (huge) (over a meter wide) cage waiting for them in a few weeks. Any advice you have on baby rats is appreciated, we have never had babies and so we are researching as much as we can. We didn't even know lupe was pregnant until this weekend. What a surprise to have baby rats all over the house the next day.
