Please note; None of our rats are kept as lone rats, Beau came to us as a lone rat and was introduced to a group of rats. The cage used is a spare cage and not our main cage. WARNING; if you have a new rescue rat that has not been handled or is known to bite, Do Not put your hand into the cage until you can safely handle the rat outside of the cage.New rats and rescue rats often nip or bite, the rat may be very nervous or just finding out if you are a tasty treat. Take things slowly, give your rats a day to adjust to their new home, during this time talk to your rat but don't try to pick them up if they have not been handled before, then try some intensive getting to know you time with your rat. We advise handling a nervous rat on the sofa so there is a soft landing if they wriggle or jump out of your hands. Baby rats will get used to you very quickly and so will older rats that have been well handled, nervous rats will need longer.
