Syringe Feeding Mr. Blue - surrendered senior rat

Here is a video of one of our senior surrenders. Meet Mr. Blue. He was surrendered as a 2 year old rat, covered in mites and scabs. He has a malformed eyelid which sometimes requires eye drops to keep moist. He also was a self-barberer and would chew all the fur off his arms, his legs and even the fur on his belly. We knew considering his age and "issues" he would likely never be adopted.
1 year and 3 months later, Mr. Blue was living with 3 old gentleman and was truly showing his age. He needed assistance with practically everything, including eating, cleaning and grooming. 2 days after this video, Mr. Blue stopped being able to swallow properly. We realized that it was time, and he was brought to the vet.
At the rescue, we are caring for several more rats like Mr. Blue who are really just biding their time. We love them and care for them as much as possible.
