IF YOU ARE LOOKING INTO GETTING A RAT AS A PET, PLEASE DO THOROUGH RESEARCH! RATS NEED A CAGE MATE/COMPANION DUE TO THEIR SOCIAL NATURE. KEEPING THEM IN NUMBERS OF 2 OR MORE IS NECESSARY! THEY SHOULD NOT BE HOUSED ALONE. ALSO PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR CAGE IS BIG ENOUGH! THEY NEED LOTS OF SPACE TO RUN & CLIMB! AND NEVER HOUSE THEM IN TANKS! THEY ARE PRONE TO RESPIRATORY ISSUES AND AN ENCLOSED CAGE DOES NOT ALLOW FOR PROPER VENTILATION! ALSO KEEP IN MIND, RATS REQUIRE DIFFERENT CARE THAN HAMSTERS, GERBILS, ETC. SOMETIMES THEY ARE EVEN HARDER TO TAKE CARE OF AND REQUIRE MORE MAINTENANCE THAN DOGS! BE AWARE OF WHAT YOU ARE GETTING INTO BEFORE ADOPTING THESE LOVABLE CREATURES!
PEOPLE OFTEN MISJUDGE RATTIES AND LOOK PAST THE TRULY AMAZING PETS THAT THEY ARE. THEY ARE SO SMART, DON;T USUALLY BITE, AND ARE SUPER CLEAN CREATURES! YOU CAN EVEN TRAIN THEM TO USE A LITTER BOX! RATS ARE THE MOST AFFECTIONATE RODENTS I'VE EVER OWNED AND ARE SOOOO WORTH THE TIME & HARD WORK PUT INTO GIVING THEM THEIR BEST LIVES!
Finally! I am doing an updated rat cage tour! I recently DIY'd a brand new rat cage for my girls and they are LOVING it so far! I figured it would be fit to do an updated tour since it's been forever since my last one. I hope you enjoy this little rat cage tour and get inspiration for your own little critters if you have any! I purchased 2 identical cages and did some cutting and bending to the wires to stack them on top of one another. I really wanted to get them a larger cage but didn't really have the space or money to buy a large cage. So instead of that, I just built upwards! It works out perfectly because my girls looooove to climb!
