When you look back on your schooling what are the things that you remember? Odds are there will be a few special memories of school camp, the friendships made and experiences that helped you step outside your comfort zone and learn new things. It is a mammoth effort to undertake a school camp and there are many things to consider such as ratio requirements around water, and even how to feed so many people. This is where parent support is so essential and many times the deciding factor as to whether a camp goes ahead. Hundreds of camps will be organised around the Far North during the school year and it is wonderful to see these opportunities being provided for students to help them shine. Jill Rabbit was lucky enough to attend the Kerikeri Primary School camp to see how it all works.
