Taking Care of Your House Bunny Rabbit with Lily and Savannah

7 year old Lily and her house bunny Savannah share rabbit care tips. Lily used research from the internet to put together her presentation. We found the bunny in our front yard after she was apparently dumped by her owners. She was a Dwarf Hotot, and was sick when we found her, probably from eating something that was toxic to her. Unfortunately, Savannah passed away from intestinal stasis due to her traumatic experience, and we;ll miss her.
My daughter was devastated, but we've agreed to get her another bunny. Everyone, please, if you have a domesticated rabbit and decide you don't want it anymore, please take it to a rescue shelter. Domesticated rabbits cannot survive in the wild and die quickly. Many "Easter" bunnies are dumped in the spring and summer when parents realize their children cannot care for them. Rabbits require special care to thrive, and its best to do research before purchasing one, to make sure they are the right pet for you. Though we are getting Lily another bunny, we don't expect Lily to take care of it by herself. We will be responsible for the rabbit's care, Lily is just learning.
