To reassure those people expressing concern with the cat: The cage had a very secure animal-proof lid ensuring that it would not be possible for the cat to enter or pose any risk to the hamsters, both hamsters were also indifferent to the cat throughout their lives and were not distressed by his presence. If a pet show any sign of distress towards other pets in your home I do strongly advise that you keep the animals separated.
