USAID strengthens swine industry competitiveness in Cambodia
2010

The swine industry in Cambodia is dominated by micro and small enterprises involved in raising and trading. The industry has been adversely affected by unregulated import surges and high input costs. The high input costs are primarily due to the high cost of commercial animal feed. The "Kampong Trach Farmer Community" has been founded with the help of the "USAID Cambodia MSME Project. Here 39 farmers produce their own pig feed, which is cheaper and helps their businesses to be more competitive. The community works together on a common goal to invest their individual capital to buy the raw materials. Filmmakers visit this community and its leader, Mr. Sy Tong.
