Butterworms - one of the best insects to feed pet lizards

Butterworms are naturally high in calcium (43mg/100g), 16% protein and low fat (5%)*
Which makes them one of the best insects that you can feed to your lizards. These are especially good for chameleons. All insect-eating lizards should be fed at least two different types of gutloaded and dusted insects. However, most people only feed mealworms, crickets or locusts. Crickets if gutloaded (with a good supplement such as repashy bug burger) aren't bad with 14mg/100g calcium) but locusts and all types of mealworms contain no calciim at all. Mealworms are high in fat and not much else. And don't even get me started on waxworms which are a TERRIBLE diet containing no nutritional benefit at all - they cannot be gutloaded and they are just fat - a rare treat if at all!
Instead a diet with a staple of either or ideally both butterworms and roaches would be excellent. Locusts for protein and occasional calciworms and your lizard would likely be extremely healthy. 😊
