The Triune Brain is a simplified way to describing how the three major parts of your brain interact.
The three parts of the Triune Brain are: The Brain Stem, the Limbic System, and the Cortex. Each of these parts serves a different role-The Brain stem focuses on survival, keeping your heart beating, running the autonomic processes like breathing and digestion, this part of the brain is also known as the reptilian brain.
The second part of the triune brain is the Limbic system- this is also known as the mammalian brain-it is where most emotions are held, it also manages relationships and connection with others.

The third part of the Triune Brain is the Neocortex, this is the part of the brain that is called the human brain, here is where complex thinking occurs. We plan for the future, evaluate alternatives, think through consequences, and hold abstract thought.
When these three parts of the brain are integrated, we tend to be healthy and happy, but when one part of the brain takes over, it can mess up our life.
