Umerkot in Sindh, which borders Mirpurkhas and Badin, is where Akhbar (the great Moghul emperor) was born.
60% of the area of Umerkot is under water. Nearly 10 Lakh population in total and the affected people are around 800,000. And people under the sky having no facilities what so ever are around 200,000. Aid coming in is not enough at all. Chilli crop is the worst affected with almost 90% devastated. Cotton 80% gone, sugarcane about 60% gone. Over a Billion rupees agricultural loss. Over 100,000 animal livestock have died. Snake bite issues are ever present with not enough medicines available in the local hospitals.
Cooked food is another problem as there is nothing to eat and cook over wood. The local NGO's cook food and distribute it to around 15,000 to 20,000 people per day.
