This is Lizzie, a beautiful Tagu lizard I rescued!

This Tagu must have been a pet and got out of it's pen and lost. For the last couple of weeks, everyday I tried to care for her but she was overall pretty scared and I was too!! The first day I saw her I immediately called reptile rescue for much needed advice and guidance on catching her. Little by little Lizzie (which I named her) started to trust me knowing I was never going to harm her and I began to trust. I was getting desperate to get her to safety since the weather had become cold hitting 50-60 degree nights. Then one day she came close to my house. She came to door she saw me go in and out and a couple days later she ventured into the garage. It was my opportunity to actually catch her.
I never took advantage of getting to close to her. I understood they aren't so safe and actually are known to be quite aggressive. But she was different. She clearly must have been raised well and I knew she was sweet at one point during our interactions. I worked in rescue before but never had never had any interaction with reptiles. I had such a great experience and I am so happy Lizzie chose me. She is safely being transported to rescue. Hopefully, we can find her real owners but in the mean time she is given proper care, loved and is safe and sound.
I'll miss you sweet girl.
