Texas Spiny Lizard in Rehab - Wichita Falls Reptile Rescue

This female Sceloporus olivaceus was injured by a cat neat Hondo, Tx.
She suffered a torn cornea, puncture wounds to the chest and back, and a broken tail (that is at this time known).

She was shipped overnight from San Antonio, but due to a USPS screw up, she was accidentally routed that night to Jacksonville, instead of DFW. Further screw ups by USPS in Jacksonville caused her to be delayed further in getting back en route to Texas. I instructed the sort facility in Jacksonville to route her ground express to Miami, where she was received that morning by a zookeeper I know, so that he could give her basic care until she could be shipped out again. After a week long delay in what should have been an overnight trip, she finally arrived here in Wichita Falls, and is now at the rescue receiving treatment.

As documented here, she has some neurological issues sustained from the cat attack. She is being treated with anti-inflammatories and antibiotics. She will likely never regain sight in her right eye, which means she will never be able to catch her own food without help, therefore, she must now remain in captivity.
