Do's and Dont's For Green Anole Care:

If your anole is always brown it is a sign of stress/illness.

Never grab them by the tail, as they may "drop" their tail.

Feed your anoles daily as much as they will eat.

Avoid feeding them potato bugs, pill bugs and beetles.

Don't snatch them from branches as this can break their tiny toes.

Tank humidity should be 70% - humid, but not rainforest conditions.

Sand or gravel substrate is not okay for anoles.

Prey insects should be no bigger than the space between an anole's eyes.

If bitten, do not jerk your hand away. This can break their tiny jaws, or cause teeth to be ripped out.

Regenerated tails are rarely the same as the original.

Anoles do not lap water from a dish as a rule, so their cages/plants should be misted twice daily.

Often confused with chameleons, anoles are more closely related to the iguana.

After two male Green Anoles fight for dominance, the winner will turn bright green, and the loser brown.

A diurnal lizard, the Green Anole is active during the day.

Green Anoles must be exposed to UVB rays to allow them to synthesize vitamin D3 and absorb calcium.

Anoles must have distinct day and night periods in their enclosure to maintain their biological rhythms.

All water given to this pet for drinking, misting, soaking or bathing must be 100% free of chlorine and heavy metals.
