UK’s rarest lizard return to sand dunes

Rare lizards, which were believed to have gone extinct in Wales around 60 years ago, have been released on sand dunes in a bid to boost struggling populations.
An endangered UK species, the sand lizards were bred at the zoo during the summer.
The species suffered a major decline due to massive habitat loss. But a captive breeding and reintroduction programme is now helping the lizards make a comeback at a site in Talacre, North Wales.
