Bearded Lizard Breakfast
The bearded lizard or bearded agama is a species of agamov lizards. In a different way, the bearded agama is also called the pursuit.
When frightened, the animal brightens. The belly is a little lighter. The body has a cylindrical shape. Numerous flat elongated spikes are located across the throat, which pass to the sides of the head. They are a bit like a trimmed beard. The beard of males is also more noticeable and darker in color, especially in the mating season, whereas in females it is orange or beige. The beard of the agama becomes especially noticeable when the lizard inflates the throat and strongly pushes the throat fold forward. The elongated processes of the hyoid bone, which bulge out when the bearded agama opens his mouth, help her in this. On the back there are long and slightly curved spikes.
Loves the forest, shrubs. Active in the afternoon. Hiding in the hole at night. When there is danger, the bearded lizard inflates the throat, and the throat folds become strongly protruding and the beard puffs up. He also bathes his tail, makes short jumps, crouches on his hind legs like a frog. It feeds on insects, small invertebrates, flowers, fruits.
Oviparous lizard. They become able to reproduce offspring two years after birth. The female lays in the wet sand 9-24 eggs. After 3–3.5 months, the cubs appear.
At home, breeding aga bearded obeys certain rules. The mating season in lizards begins after the end of wintering. They are prepared for this by feeding with special preparations with vitamin "E". And when the males "dress" in a bright nuptial attire, they sit down to the females. Males of bearded aga also have their ceremonies to attract "girls." They show them the bright color of their neck, rise on their paws and nod their heads. And the females respond with a similar nod and tail movements. Then comes the time of marriage prosecution. The male of the bearded agama catches the female and, grasping it with his teeth, proceeds to mate.
Bearded agama ration mixed. From animal food, these are various small vertebrates and invertebrates, and from vegetable food they are leaves, shoots, fruits and flowers of various plants. In captivity, bearded agamas gladly eat crickets, cockroaches, meal worms and other insects. Snails, bird eggs, small rodents can become a source of animal protein for lizards. And among the succulent feeds of the bearded agame various grated vegetables and fruits are useful - carrots, apples, cabbage, pears, bananas, tomatoes, cucumbers, beans, lettuce leaves and dandelion. Breeders recommend placing this food in special low, but wide bowls, and when the lizard is full, remove them from the terrarium.
Endemic of Australia. Inhabits the east and south-east in the Cape York Peninsula. The biotopes preferred by the bearded agama are mostly desert and semi-desert — stony or covered with dry vegetation, thickets of bushes. The lizard lives on the ground and sometimes in the trees. Each lizard has its own territory, which she tries to keep.
