Too Many people groom a horse for what they want - You groom a horse for the horse not for you, even thou you get a lot from it.

Lots of ways to groom a horse, but grooming is important. Horses do better with regular grooming. It conditions the horse to accept different types of pressure, it lets you identify sore or injured areas, it removes old dead hair, stimulates blood flow and circulation, it spreads oils to give the horse rain protection which will help prevent the horse from getting wet and staying wet which can cause rain rot, it allows you to spend bonding time with the when you are NOT making the horse respect your space and not ordering the horse around making it perform or do something for you.

It also teaches you feel, timing and release, all things needed for effectively working with and around horses.

Effective Grooming involved several steps:
removing dead or lose hair
massaging the horse
spreading oils
examining the entire body from hoof to head to tail
don't neglect the LEGS, you might have to bend over but do it
