Horse Care Tip: Injuries on Buckets

http://www.passionatehorsemanship.com Horse Care Tip: Injuries on buckets. Make sure your feed and water buckets have a rubber tip guards on each side where the handle attaches to the bucket. If there is no rubber tip guard your horse can easily get cut. Even though there is a rubber tip guard they could still cut their eyelid, get their mane or tail caught because of the small gap so wrap both sides with either electrical or duct tape.

I had a horse that almost cut her eyelid off because she was rubbing her head on the bucket and I didn't realize it was missing the rubber tip guard. I've also know of horses that cut a gash in their hindquarters or they got their mane or tail hair stuck from rubbing on the bucket.

I don't want this to happen to your horse so the best practice would be to wrap the ends with electrical or duct tape to protect them from getting cut or getting their mane or tail hair hung in the bucket.
