Road Trip 2016 Day 6 of 8 Horse Breeding and waterfalls

2016-09-26 Late in the morning, we heard some of the horses were screaming, so we got dressed and rushed to see what was happening.

It turned out that 2 of the Fjord horses were breeding. The stallion was trying to mount on the mare that was in heat. Bill and Norma told us that it is pretty rare, and we felt lucky that we were able to witness something like this as we have no horses nor we know anyone who has horses. Bill and Norma also taught us a lot about the horses while the 2 horses were mating in the background.

After witnessing such an exciting event, we left the farm as one of the purposes of this road trip was to visit waterfalls. We did visit several of them but they either do not exist on maps or they are extremely dry (most of New England has suffered drought in 2016).

We have passed through cities and towns like North Adams, Adams, Florida among others with beautiful views. We even had an afternoon sub at a small local store in Savoy too!

Before we went back to the farm, we visited Shelburne Falls (and looking for something to eat too but many stores were closed)because according to the maps, there is a waterfall right in the town center. It turned out that there is an artificial waterfall created by a dam managed by a power company (TransCanada).

We fired up the grill for cooking dinner as I always advocate grilling stuff if possible, especially we had some freshly picked vegetables (some of them were picked in the dark too)!
