Additional notes to consider :
You can ride a horse you currently own back from taming and the tamed horse will follow you.
Attaching horses to a wagon is a great way to train multiple horses at once, and overall it's a slight EXP increase than doing it solo.
A wagon getting killed by any means will protect your horses from death tokens, it will simply harm the wagon.
I would advise against auto-looping to nodes, as your horse may get stuck. A good location I like to use is the road west of Heidel and back.
If your horse winds up in the water you can whistle and it'll climb out, saving it from drowning.
Tier 2 horses are still the highest tiered horses found in the wild, despite rumors of T3s.
Tier 6 horses appear to be the max obtainable on our current version of the game through breeding.

I have found this map to have the most accurrate spawn locations available for horses: http://ph129.net/map/
Simply click Towns & Cities for reference & Wild Horses.

I have found this Horse Breeding calculator to be very accurate, up until Tier 7 [which isn't available despite it saying there's ~25% chance) : http://www.blackd.de/horse/?mt=2&ml=1

If you're serious about horse taming, then you're going to spend a lot of time riding around. Because of this, I recommend you utilize your time effeciently by trying your hand at trading at the same time. You can either peddle NPC goods or combine it with yet a third lifeskill for much more profit. Example, catching fish at Veila and selling to Calpheon via trade route.
