Society Finch feeding Zebras finch babies.

Hamster is a Society finch I've rescued and she has fostered these babies who were abandoned by their Zebra finch parents. She sat on the eggs for about ten days and fed them when they hatched and then about a week later their parents - Fox and Scout - reclaimed them - fighting her off the nest and being bullies. I put Hamster in a separate cage with the nest but it was then christmas Morning and their crops were empty (the sacks where babies keep the food to disgest that their parents feed them) and so she hadn't fed them by eleven that morning and I was worried, I thought maybe she was freaked by the sudden move, and they were so tiny I wasn't sure they could last without being fed a whole day, so I put them all back in the big cage (in between trying to make snacks for christmas day lunch at my folk's place) and there wasn't much more I could do, but Fox was then an excellent mum, she had two of her own by then and now they can fly they have all gathered in one quite different spot and she feeds them all and Hamster sits with them and it's really a bird community.
