Happy the Guinea Pig Takes a Bath

Dislike 0 Published on 24 May 2008

This video features Happy, of the adorable duo Happy and Harry, while we were giving him a bath. Let's just say... he wasn't very happy! Hehe!

EDIT: Just so you know, the audio's a bit off. Sorry 'bout that, but Youtube messed it up when it was uploaded. But hey... it's still adorable!!

DISCLAIMER: Yes, guinea pigs *DO* need occasional baths. They are very different from rabbits and hamsters, and they're unable to clean themselves effectively enough. They aren't chinchillas, so dust baths are NOT appropriate!

Depending on the piggie, they need a bath two or three times a year, more or less. We used baby shampoo so his eyes were fine, and this was our first attempt at bathing him. Since then, we do it much more quickly (and we don't take video and pictures, hehe). After bath time, I use a hair dryer and several towels to dry them off well so they don't get sick. We also have some little "Tushee Wipes" from Petco that we use once in awhile in between bath times when they start getting stinky.

Yeah, he wasn't happy, but right now he's in his pigloo taking a nap and he's perfectly content! :D He'll be even more content in a few hours when he and Harry (and our other two, Hubert and Humphrey) get their nightly greens.
