Guinea pig family-rescued 20/6/2017

Late yesterday afternoon we had a family surrendered . Mum, Dad and 3 pups
Mum and Dad have some nasty mange mites and are very underweight and malnourished.
Mum gave birth to babies yesterday.
Previous owner had tried to get treatment for them but went to a vet without enough knowledge and they got worse (please be mindful of what you say in the comments as they have done their best and sought us out for help).
We of course made space for this precious family.
They have all, already seen our vet.
Mum and dad have had their first ivomec injections and will be needing some pain relief as well. They will need a weekly injection for 4 weeks to kill the mites and the eggs.
The babies didn't need any injections but they did have a topical treatment so they are safe to stay with mum. They are all really good weights too.
She is doing an amazing job of feeding and caring for her young even though she is clearly in a lot of pain and hurts to touch.
They have a rough road for the next few weeks but if they have the strength to pull through we have the patience and love to help them there .
For now they are tucking in to some food and hay and probably not very happy with me but that's ok 🐹🐹🐹🐹🐹
