Kenya has feline virus FVR, Rhinotracheitis virus. We have 2 Bengals that contracted this virus. Through a stress free environment and l-lysine our kitten's symptoms have improved and are currently healthy! We got Kenya and Dakota September 2015. Kenya is the Brown Rosetta and Koda is our Snow Leopard. We had been looking to buy Bengals for a while and came across these girls at a very cheap price. We were told they had FVR and to research the disease so we were aware of what we were getting into. The main symptoms of FVR copy the symptoms of an Upper Respiratory Infection. At first, Kenya had an audible wheeze and sneezed monstrous dark green, sometimes dark red and brown boogers. Koda on the other hand was physically bad. She was malnourished. I could feel her vertebrae and details of her spine and ribs. She was extremely small. She had watery eyes and yellow discharge continuously running and sticking outside of her eyes. She would wake up having her eyes crusted over. You could smell her infection when you got close to her face! She also had black ear wax that coated the whole inside of her ears, running nose and wheezed once in a while. She was also taken from her mother too soon. She would nurse on herself or on Kenya. We bought some kitty milk and was soon gaining weight! After a few weeks being in our home the symptoms started to improve. We also were given L-Lysine from the seller. I’m not sure if this helps or not. Our girls have improved over the months. Kenya still sneezes and has massive boogers! We find them on the walls or on blankets and they are extremely hard to wash off! We noticed about a month after being in our home the wheezing stopped. Koda still has some symptoms. She was diagnosed with a worse FVR condition. It’s true that when they are uncomfortable their symptoms will flair. When Koda is in an uncomfortable situation her eyes begin to water. It’s not a lot! We got her an antibiotic for her infection, which cleared up. Her ears still have black ear wax. When they play with each other there are no symptoms ever! They usually try to kill each other when they do this!! The best thing we did was get two of them!!
