Hello, my name is Jill Phillips, and I'm co-owner of Squeals on Wheels, a traveling petting zoo and pony rides. My name is John Phillips. We have horses, miniature horses. We have miniature llamas and alpacas, chickens, ducks. We have bearded dragons. Our website is www.squealsonwheels.us.
One of our primary goals as owners of a petting zoo is to ensure optimum nutrition for each of the different species that we have. And for guinea pigs, one of the most important foods that we can give them is hay. The hay is wonderful for their digestive system, and it keeps things moving, and it also helps to prevent obesity because it takes them a long time to chew that hey compared to little guinea pig pellets. The other thing that we give them is the guinea pig pellets. We get out guinea pig food from feed stores. There's some very good brands of guinea pig food out there, and the pellets give them a balanced nutrition so that you have a well rounded diet for your guinea pigs. It's also important to give them a wide variety of vegetables to include some of the green leafy ones, in particular and they love to munch on little carrots.
