MY GUINEA PIG GAVE BIRTH!

Open me for freeeee...Please read for information about the birth.

So I wanted to explain some stuff about the birth in case anyone was wondering. When I filmed this video I had gotten Linky and Zelda a couple of months ago. I adopted them from someone on craigslist (not a breeder) and ONE OF THE MANY reasons for that was because pet store piggies are more likely to be pregnant. The person I got them from only said that they were mother and daughter but I think she didn't even know that Linky was pregnant.

I kind of noticed that Linky seemed larger and the thought crossed my mind that she might be pregnant but I didn't get around to looking it up because I really thought it wasn't likely. I wanted to take Zelda and Linky to the vet when I first got them but never got the chance because of school and work. I really wish I had before but I'm so grateful that Linky got through the pregnancy and is perfectly fine.

So on November 26th, my mom told me that Linky wasn't squeaking as loudly as she usually does. So I went to check up on her and Zelda, and I immediately noticed that Linky looked so much tinier than she did the previous day. When I glanced in their hidey, I saw a little black thing and when I lifted it up, 2 new tiny guinea pigs were running around! Also, there was one pup who was unfortunately dead already and I'll get into this in a second. So of course I was absolutely shocked and the pups were running around like they've always been there. I first grabbed the dead one and took him to tell my mom that Linky had birth and I was crying my eyes out because I was so upset about the dead one. I'm assuming he/she might have already been dead in the womb but there's no way to know for sure. I also felt super guilty that I wasn't there with Linky when she delivered, but I'm so glad that she's ok. I would have never forgived myself if anything happened to her.

Anyways, after I calmed down I started doing research on proper care for pups. It's been a couple of weeks since they were born and I absolutely love them. Even though I never wanted a pregnant piggy and more piggies, I can't imagine life without them. Birth is seriously an incredible thing. However, Linky is still quite young and I have a feeling that she was bred at a young age. This really upsets me because of the complications that can arise for a piggy from giving birth so young. It also just breaks my heart that she had to go through this at such a young age. I wish there was a way to stop excessive breeding of piggies...

Anyways, on a lighter note, the pups and Zelda and Linky are doing wonderful thankfully and I have extended their cage which they are very happy about (video coming soon). I am taking them to the vet tomorrow (December 22nd) and I will post an update.

Thank you if you actually read this long description but I thought I would explain everything. :)
