Minnie the guinea pig has a tumour removed

Minnie and Aurora arrived yesterday at lunch for boarding. Upon check in I noticed Minnie was underweight and started a discussion with her owner and asked a few questions about how she's been and her diet lately .
While talking Minnie was settling into her cage and I notice some blood on the fleece.
When I inspected her she was bleeding from the vulva.
Initially i suspected bladder stones but after some x-rays and tests it came back that she had a tumour/mass approximately 2cmx3cm on her uterus.
Minnie being underweight at this time meant it was riskier opting for surgery but our only other option was to opt to have her put to sleep or do nothing at all.
Discussing the risks and choices with her owner we decided to give her a chance and go ahead with the surgery and have the mass removed .
We have just collected Minnie after a successful surgery , she is in good spirits and we are very hopeful her recovery will go smoothly.
Being vigilant with your piggies is important, we highly recommend weighing your piggies weekly to detect any illnesses as early as possible to have the best treatment options .
Give Minnie your well wishes 🐹😍
