Hey guys, this is just a short video showing you how to check that your guinea pig is happy and healthy, in 5 simple steps! You should do this routine weekly, but if you discover something is wrong, take him/her straight to an exotic vet, as guinea pigs can be very unpredictable when it comes to illnesses and can be much more ill than they seem. The general signs of an illness are:
-refusing to eat/drink
-wheezing or labored breathing (a sign of a URI)
-runny droppings (a sign of diarrhea)
-weight loss
-crusty eyes/nose (signs of a URI)
-constant sneezing
-patchy hair loss or constant itching (signs of a mite or flea infestation)
-hunched posture (a sign of many illnesses, mainly a URI)
-blood in their urine (a sign of a UTI)
If you notice any of these symptoms, see an exotic vet immediately.
I am no expert on guinea pig health, but the website in the link below has some really good advice if there is an emergency.
