Keeping Sheep and Goats Together- Feeding goats mineral

Dislike 0 Published on 15 Mar 2017

Goats need levels of copper in their mineral supplementation that are toxic to sheep. When housing goats and sheep together goats must be supplemented with mineral with the correct levels of copper, and sheep must not be allowed to consume that mineral. I taught my goats to come to me when I say, "hey, goat!" The sheep know they are not going to get a treat so they ignore me(they know a big plastic bucket is how I feed them treats). I then can hand feed the goats their mineral out of the bag. There is always free choice sheep mineral available. I bolus my goats with copper twice a year and hand feed mineral every day. I didn't actually have any mineral in my hand since I was taking the video, so they did not mob me as much as they usually do.
