Shelby the Goat Feeding

Dislike 0 Published on 3 May 2012

This is my uncle's kid (young goat). He was morning the morning of May 2, 2012, which was less than 24 hours after this video was filmed. My uncle found the kid covered in mud, hay, and feces. He thought it was dead because it wasn't moving. When Kenny picked it up, it had mud up its nose and packed on its eyes.

He called his most reliable sibling, Lorelie, who rushed to the farm to try to nurse it to health. The kid hadn't eaten yet, therefore it was too weak to suck milk from a bottle. The lady who sold Kenny the mother goat arrived at somehow got a tube down the kid's throat and dump the milk down.

Now, about 7 hours later, the kid is doing much better. As you can see, he/she (it's too early to tell) is strong enough to suck the milk from the bottle and whine. We plan to attempt to return the kid in a few days to see if the mother will accept it. We hope it won't get rejected by all the other goats.

My dad and I thought of the name "Shelby" because of the "racing stripe" on the head. Also, Shelby is kind of a Western name.

Thanks to Lorelie for all the narration and you for watching :D
