These interlocking Montessori-style Sustainable Environment K-12 Education Lessons, plus 3 interviews with globally influential holistic health, hydrogen engineering, and solar cooker pioneers, are designed to save lives and to save the environment of our planet. The scope of the lessons covers our common basic human needs for organic food, clean water, renewable energy, and affordable solar adobe housing, all produced on an individual household scale.
They emphasize simple, inexpensive, low-tech, and labor intensive, and completely hands-on solutions to increasingly serious global problems, while emphasizing the hopeful and joyful education of children. The lessons help build holistic health, character development, interdependent cooperation, higher order systems thinking, and a sense of global responsibility. These lessons may appear deceptively simple, but all used together as a whole, they show how to save lives on our planet, by doing more with less while always using Nature as a model. Amazingly, these lessons are entirely student planned, built, filmed and edited. They are not slick or professional, but they are full of love and sincerity. Songs and charts are used to sum up principles.
Level One contains lessons on organic gardening, composting, harvesting, seed collection, simple medicinal herbs, small animal husbandry, natural water purification, solar water purification, and solar cooking. Level Two contains lessons on greenhouse construction, household scale fruit and nut orchard, household-scale fish farm, simple solar energy production, and rain water catchment, using earthworks, cistern construction, and gray water re-use. Level Three contains lessons on affordable alternative housing (or classroom) construction, wind energy, bee keeping, and food preservation and storage.
Level Two and Three Lessons are currently being built, filmed, and edited by students, and will soon be available on Google Non profit YouTube, as well as available as hard copies. Please enjoy the students and their educational work, please learn, build, and use these skills yourself, and then share them with others in schools and communities worldwide.
Lesson plans, materials lists, and globally-applicable Sustainable System Teaching and Evaluation Principles are available, along with a hard copy ten- DVD set of Level One Lessons, for a non-profit Global SEED.org contribution, plus shipping and handling.
