Goat Care Series. Pt. 6: Disbudding Goat Kids

Dislike 0 Published on 26 Sep 2014

Another Day with the Goats- Part 6 covers disbudding kids. This is considered cruel by many people, but it really is not. Horns get caught in fences, injure other goats and people, and often make a goat undesirable, leading to that goat winding up on someone's plate. It is better for a kid to go through a short time of pain/ discomfort when they are young and recover quickly, than to die of heat stroke while caught in a fence (this has almost happened to a couple of horned goats I have owned).
