This is a some clips of goat farming in Makawanpur near Kulekhani Water Reservoir ( Indra Sarobar), This goat was brought from USA for breeding. I went there in june 7, 2015 for agro forestry research. I got chance to take videography all handsome male goats (Boka), beautiful female goats (Bakhri) and cute baby goats(Patha-Pathi).
Goat is a very important component and cash income in Nepal mostly in dry land farming system and hill region. Marginal or undulating land unsuitable for other types of animals like cow and buffalo, the goat farming is the best alternative. With very low investments goat rearing can be made in to a profitable venture for small and marginal farmers, and land less labors. it is low capital investment and quick returns availability of common grazing land. it needs simple and small shed is enough and profitable under stall fed condition. Goat farming is the cash because the demand of meat high in cities even in the rural areas, can be sold and encased anytime. The meat of goat is lean and has low fats and best for children and old people.
Grazing along with concentrate feeding gives maximum growth rate of Goat. The feeding protein rich green fodder such as acacia, lucerne and cassava and are important sources of dietary nitrogen. Farmers can cultivate agathi, subabul and glaricidia trees along the border of the farm and used as green fodder.
