My little mice eating porridge! Made with kitten milk and oats. ♥♥♥♥
RECIPE FOR PORRIDGE:
rolled or dry oats (any kind of dry unsalted oats will do)
Kitten milk, Puppy milk, human baby formula or goats milk is acceptable. Some places even do special rodent forumla but it's very rare on the marketr, so if you can't find it, it's not the end of the world (DO NOT use COW MILK)
Heat the milk over a pot of boiling water by placing it in a pot and sticking it on the boiling water. When it is hot transfer it to a clean pot for your mouse/rat/small mammal to drink out of (a milk lid is best for this).
Add the oats and mix it in.
Give it to your mouse/rat/small mammal to drink ☻
WARNINGS:
(DO NOT under ANY circumstances use cows milk, it can be extremely dangerous for mice due to the higher levels of Lactose, calcium, and casein. These make it hard for a mouse to digest properly and as mice cannot throw up, they have no way to get rid of any objectionable substances. It could make your mouse ill or even kill him/her.)
DO NOT give it to your pet when it is hot, make sure it has cooled down to a safe temperature before giving it to your pet.
MAKE SURE your milk is in date, if it smells funny or if it has turned to cheese then it is probably no good and should not be given to your pet at all.
LASTLY, don't over do it, this is a great way to get baby mice onto solids while providing him/her with all the nutrients (s)he needs, but after that this is a treat. IF you give them this too much they might get tired of it and it won't be as enjoyable anymore, and they may refuse to eat other foods.
Remember all pets (big or small) have different personalities and preferences, so porridge might not be their preference, if they don't eat it it's not the end of the world, they might not like it.
