Week 4
Bills v. Patriots
Hello. Welcome to Paddy’s Tales. Unfortunately, a fall from a ladder resulted in me having to travel from my home to Buffalo to assist family. Although I brought equipment to try to edit and post a video for week 3’s Bills v Bengals game, it did not work. But as you see the dogs all picked the Bills over the Bengals and so I will count it.
Being in Buffalo leading up to week 3 was special. Buffalo, the Bills Mafia and the Bills organization’s tribute to Pancho Billa brought tears to my eyes on more than a few occasions.
In week 3 the Bills looked amazing at times but haphazard at others. Overall, the offense looked good and was able to effectively move the ball. Dawson Knox ran over defenders. John Brown made several clutch third down catches to keep our offense on the field. Sure handed Cole Beasley did his ‘thing’. Josh Allen made some amazingly tight and spot on throws but also reverted to holding onto the ball too long in others. Frank Gore came shining through on several occasions as well. TJ Yeldon had some great runs but get him some Velcro because he needs to hold on to the ball! But we made several offensive mistakes and left at least 11 points on the field.
The defense looked great again this week. They did an awesome job of containing John Ross.
It wasn’t the prettiest win, but we’ll take it! If you count the pre-season, the Bills are 7-0 on the year.
The Bills rose in the MSN power rankings to number 12 this week and have finally got some well-deserved attention from the national media.
This week the Bills are a home against the Patriots and I will be at the game!
Patriots are pretty much unchallenged through week 3. Playing the Steelers, Dolphins and Jets. None the less they are the defending Super Bowl Champs and are always a challenge.
I think the Bills are up to the challenge. To beat the Patriots the Bills will have to dominate the clock battle by keeping the ball for long drives down the field. The defense will have to simultaneously pressure Tom Brady while providing tight coverage on their many talented receivers. Watch out for Izzu in the flat and continue to bat down passes.
Last week the Jets scored their 14 points on Special Teams and Defensive Scores. Both of which were the result of Patriot mistakes. The mistakes will happen, the Bills just need to capitalize on them.
Overall, I don’t belief the Patriots defense is as good as their opponents scoring in the first 3 games suggests. If Allen is able to remain calm, cool and collected as he has through the first 3 games, without holding on to the ball too long, the Bills will win by 3.
The dogs agree. Rocky, Paddy, Lexie and Dandi all pick the Bills.
I’m headed to back to Buffalo this weekend so I will see you at the game.
