We installed a mirror in our chicken run/aviary that we bought at Goodwill for $10. We had been having an issue with the birds picking on each other more than usual since Spring is coming, and also the mating season! This is what happened immediately after I walked away from installing the mirror. They were showing off to and fighting with their good-looking reflections.
After the first day or two, the novelty has worn off somewhat. However, the birds still spend quite a bit of time in front of the mirror admiring their own beauty, and therefore they spend less time picking on each other.
